Iowa, bordered by the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers, is home to approximately 2.9 million people. Iowa offers its residents a high quality of life. In 2007 the Annie E. Casey Foundation named Iowa the 7th best state to raise a child and Morgan Quitno has ranked Iowa in the top 8 safest neighborhoods in the U.S. One aspect of Iowa’s high quality of life is its excellent educational system. Iowa earns consistently high marks among education experts including a 6th place ranking overall for getting a quality education by Business Facilities Magazine. In 2008 Iowa students earned the top score on the SAT and 2nd highest average ACT score in the nation. Iowa is the home to three major public universities and numerous, highly-regarded private colleges and universities.
Iowa’s expanding and diversifying economy has attracted thousands of new residents, particularly in the population centers of central and eastern Iowa.
