Darrel A. Morf has been a member of Simmons Perrine Moyer Bergman PLC since 1970.
Education & Judicial Clerkship A native of Fredericksburg, Mr. Morf received a B.A. degree with highest distinction and a J.D. degree with high distinction from the University of Iowa, where he was Notes and Comments Editor for the Iowa Law Review. Mr. Morf came to Simmons Perrine after completing a clerkship for the Honorable Donald P. Lay of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, which covers Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, Arkansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, and North Dakota.
Teaching Mr. Morf served as the Estate Planning Lecturer, teaching an upper level course in "estate planning" at the University of Iowa College of Law for 17 years. He speaks regularly to both attorneys and laypersons on a wide range of estate planning topics.
Professional Associations
Community Involvement Mr. Morf is a member of the Mercy Medical Center Board of Directors, the Mercy Medical Center Foundation Board of Directors, the Jared and Carol Hills Foundation, the Hall-Perrine Foundation Board of Directors, the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library Association Board of Directors, the Pension Board for American Baptist Churches, U.S.A. (The Ministers and Missionaries Benefit Board). He has served on numerous other not for profit Boards in the past including Brucemore, Methwick, American Baptist Homes of the Midwest, the Foerstner Foundation, and the General Board of American Baptist Churches, USA. Mr. Morf received the 2002 Benjamin Franklin Philanthropy Day Award from the Association of Fundraising Professionals for his service to the non-profit community in Iowa and nationally.

April 16, 2009 On April 16, 2009, father and son estate planning duo Paul Morf and Darrel Morf were the featured speakers at an event sponsored by the Mercy Medical Center Foundation of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, for its physician affiliates and donors. The presentation, entitled "Preventative Care Estate Planning: Not Covered by Medicare, But Then Neither are Estate Taxes), was presented at the Collins Road Marriott after heavy hors devoirs'. Paul and Darrel discussed such topics as planning for disability and substitute decision-making, asset protection planning, planning for blended families and second marriages, planning for special needs children and grandchildren, trusts for minor children and grandchildren, income-tax deferral opportunities for retirement and college savings (such as 401ks, IRAs, Roth IRAs, and 529 Plans), and of course opportunities for tax-beneficial structuring of charitable gifts and charitable legacies. Paul and Darrel also spent time discussing federal estate tax planning for high net worth individuals and families, including GRATs, sales to grantor trusts, charitable lead annuity trusts, and family limited partnerships and LLCs.
