Lynn Hartman is a member of Simmons Perrine Moyer Bergman PLC where she represents primarily banks and other financial service providers. Prior to joining Simmons Perrine Moyer Bergman, Ms. Hartman was in-house counsel for Firstar Bank now U.S. Bank.
Banking Litigation. Ms. Hartman counsels and represents financial institutions in a variety of litigation matters. Past representations include claims of lender liability, trustee mismanagement, mortgage fraud and unfair debt collection practices.
Finance and Financial Institutions. Ms. Hartman advises both lenders and borrowers on commercial transactions including secured and unsecured lending, asset-based and real estate lending, project and acquisition financing, letters of credit and mortgage enforceability opinions.
Corporate Transactions and Business Counseling. Ms. Hartman represents buyers and sellers of financial institutions and provides regulatory and compliance advice to banks and their related holding companies.
Creditors Rights and Bankruptcy. Ms. Hartman represents lenders in connection with troubled loans in proceedings before the United States Bankruptcy Court, as well as cases pending in state court throughout the State of Iowa.

Friday, November 05, 2010 Eric Lam and Lynn Hartman present at bankruptcy conference Eric Lam and Lynn Hartman presented at the 29th Annual Bankruptcy Conference in Des Moines on October 28, 2010. Eric provided an update on bankruptcy case law. Lynn spoke on banking issues in bankruptcy. The conference was sponsored by the Iowa Chapter of the Federal Bar Association.
Saturday, October 17, 2009 Allison Heffern and Lynn Hartman Present at Iowa Hospital Association's Annual Meeting Allison Heffern and Lynn Hartman presented at the Legal and Regulatory track of the Iowa Hospital Association's Annual Meeting on October 8, 2009. Allison presented on the new HIPAA / HITECH regulations and also provided materials on provider-based regulations. Lynn summarized regulations regarding red flag rules and identify theft. The Iowa Hospital Association is available to Iowa hospitals to support them in achieving their missions and goals.
Tuesday, September 29, 2009 Lynn Hartman Participates in "Workplace Teamwork Across the Generations" Panel Lynn Hartman served as a panelist at a "Lawyers & Leaders" panel at the University of Iowa College of Law on September 24, 2009. The topic of the discussion was "Teamwork in the Workplace: What Legal Employers are Doing to Maximize Different Generations of Lawyers’ Workstyles." More information about the panel is available at the Citizens Lawyer Program web site.
Wednesday, September 23, 2009 Eric Lam Chairs and Kathleen Kleiman and Lynn Hartman Present at Bankruptcy Seminar On September 18, 2009, Eric Lam, Kathleen Kleiman, and Lynn Hartman were among several presenters at a continuing legal education seminar on bankruptcy in Iowa City. The University of Iowa College of Law sponsored the seminar. Eric Lam chaired the program. Kathleen Kleiman presented on limited liability company interests in bankruptcy. Lynn Hartman presented on bankruptcy fraud issues.
Wednesday, May 13, 2009 Lynn Hartman Presents at USLAW 2009 Women's Weekend On May 2, 2009, Lynn Hartman presented on insolvency and bankrupcty issues at the USLAW Network's 2009 Women's Weekend in Las Colinas, Texas. The presentation focused on the automatic stay in bankruptcy, Bankruptcy Code section 525, judicial estoppel in bankruptcy, special trustee considerations, procedures for purchase money security interests, letters of credit, and guaranties.
Thursday, April 02, 2009 Firm Attorneys Present Seminar on Banking Issues On April 2, Eric Lam, Lynn Hartman, Jason Steffens, Abbe Stensland, and Lou Ebinger presented a client seminar for banking clients addressing a number of issues.
Eric provided an update on bankruptcy laws and the Uniform Commercial Code, including potential changes to chapter 13 bankruptcies.
Lynn discussed foreclosure options for lenders and recent changes to Iowa foreclosure laws.
Jason spoke on allocation of liability in check fraud issues. He also addressed the retention and destruction of electronically stored information.
Abbe outlined a creditor's ability to utilize Iowa's small claims court procedures.
Lou discussed procedures for properly documenting collateral for secured loans.
