Michael McDonough is a member of Simmons Perrine Moyer Bergman PLC and a trial attorney. His trial experience involves trials in both federal and state courts in approximately 20 different states. The subject matter of his practice is varied and includes commercial and personal injury litigation as well as insurance law and coverage issues. His trial practice involves insurance agent errors and omissions matters, motor carrier litigation, construction litigation, business torts and fair competition issues, transactional and contract litigation disputes, secured transactions/equipment leasing and medical malpractice. Mike also has represented securities dealers in NASD arbitration proceedings.
Mr. McDonough served as Law Clerk to the Honorable Norman Krivosha, Chief Justice, Nebraska Supreme Court, 1981-82. He practiced law in Lincoln, Nebraska until joining Moyer & Bergman in 1985. In addition, Mike was selected to Key Media Publication Inc.’s list of Super Lawyers 2007.

Eight SPMB Attorneys Honored for Pro Bono Contributions Matthew J. Brandes, Phil Brooks, Phil A. Burian, Paul Gamez, Larry Gutz, Mike McDonough, Kyle W. Wilcox, and Susan H. Willey have been recognized by the Iowa State Bar Association (ISBA) for donating hours of legal assistance through Iowa’s volunteer lawyer projects and other pro bono activities. The Pro Bono Honor Roll includes attorneys who reported from July 2012 – June 2013 that they had closed one or more pro bono referral cases. In addition to taking cases, many attorneys provide valuable assistance to the legal services community by talking with clients, training and research, serving as mediators and as support to the court.

Holtman and Stone make Iowa’s Top 10 Attorney List
22 SPMB attorneys included in 2013 Great Plains Super Lawyers®
Attorneys Stephen Holtman and Roger Stone were recently named Iowa Top 10 Attorneys by Super Lawyers® 2013. Additionally, 22 SPMB attorneys were included in 2013 Great Plains Super Lawyers® lists.
Each year, the research team at Super Lawyers undertakes a selection process that includes a statewide survey of lawyers, independent evaluation of candidates by the attorney-led research staff, a peer review of candidates by practice area and a good-standing and disciplinary check.
Attorneys, Christine Conover, Matt Hektoen, Jacob Koller and Carrie Thompson were selected as 2013 Great Plains Rising Stars®. Rising Stars candidates must be either 40 years old or younger or in practice for 10 years or less. No more than five percent of the lawyers in Iowa are named to Super Lawyers, and no more than 2.5 percent are named to the Rising Stars list.
