Thomas DeBoom is a Member of Simmons Perrine Moyer Bergman PLC. Prior to the merger of Simmons Perrine, PLC and Moyer & Bergman, PLC, Tom was a Member of Moyer & Bergman, PLC and served terms on that firm's executive committee as Vice President of Finance and as the Chair of its Business & Tax Department.
Mr. DeBoom's general practice includes, but is not limited to, business law, finance law, mergers and acquisitions, and employee benefits.
Business Transactions and Counseling. Mr. DeBoom advises businesses of all sizes and their owners regarding governance and transactional matters, tax planning and succession planning.
Mergers & Acquisitions. Mr. DeBoom has handled numerous mergers, acquisitions and reorganizations. His involvement in such transactions includes negotiation of the transaction, due diligence, document drafting, coordination and finalization of the closing, and addressing post closing issues and liabilities.
Securities and Equity Finance. Mr. DeBoom represents clients in private placement and equity offerings. He advises investors and issuing companies in private equity and venture capital transactions, including the negotiation and drafting of voting, shareholder and registration rights agreements.
Finance and Financial Institutions. Mr. DeBoom has extensive experience counseling banks and borrowers in commercial loan transactions. Mr. DeBoom's involvement includes the negotiation of multi-lender secured transactions and intercreditor arrangements, document drafting, and coordination and finalization of the closing on the loan transaction.
Employee Benefits. Mr. DeBoom assists with the retention of key employees by designing and implementing stock bonus and option plans and deferred compensation arrangements. He also is involved with the implementation, administration and termination of tax qualified retirement and employee benefit plans.
Mr. DeBoom was born and raised in Cedar Rapids and has been actively involved in the community through service on the boards of several local nonprofit organizations. During law school, Mr. DeBoom was Managing Editor of the Journal of Corporation Law.

Tom DeBoom Recipient of "Forty Under 40" Award
Thomas N. DeBoom has been selected as a 2009 recipient of the Corridor Business Journal's Forty Under 40 award. Each year, the Corridor Business Journal spotlights 40 of the Cedar Rapids-Iowa City Corridor's outstanding leaders who have made a significant impact in their business or community early in their careers. This year's recipients will be profiled in the Oct. 27 issue and at an Oct. 27 awards dinner. Other Simmons Perrine Moyer Bergman attorneys who have previously received the award are: Nicolas Abou-Assaly, Christine Conover, Paul Morf, and David Zylstra.
